The Youngs of Port Elizabeth – Safe Return
In the Second World War, Captain the Revd J.G. Young served as chaplain in the 1st Division of the Union Defense Force in North Africa, where he was present at both the Gazala Gallop and the battle of El Alamein, and then in the 6th Division in Italy.
At the commencement, Captain J.O. Young was already an ACF officer in the Prince Alfred’s Guard regiment, with which he served throughout the war.
Both returned safely, in 1946 and 1945 respectively…
